The Mesa County Board of County Commissioners has passed Resolution No. 2024-13, officially declaring Mesa County as a Non-Sanctuary County. This decision is a direct response to the growing immigration influx and its associated challenges, as seen in neighboring areas such as Denver.

On Feb. 20, the Board of Mesa County Commissioners issued a letter to Denver Mayor Mike Johnston in response to the immigration challenges Denver is currently facing.
